Intrepid DX Group ends its Youth Dream Rig Essay Contest

The Intrepid DX Group is bringing its annual Youth "Dream Rig" Essay Contest to a close after six years. Paul, N6PSE, announced the decision on behalf of the group.

According to N6PSE, the contest awarded more than $20,000 in radios over its run. He said many of the young winners have gone on to do great things with amateur radio. The program gave young hams a chance to write their way to a new station, which can make a real difference for a newcomer without the budget for a capable transceiver.

The announcement summary available to us did not give a reason for ending the contest or say whether another youth program will take its place. Fuller details are in the group's announcement.
